#206 - NET YOUR PROBLEM - MAINE LOBSTER ROPE RECYCLING, USA
ABOUT
The Maine Lobster industry is comprised of over 5,000 commercial permits with permit holders fishing an average of 198 traps at a time. The rope used to connect the traps equals thousands of miles and has a limited life span due to normal fishing wear and tear. Net Your Problem aims to provide Maine fishermen with recycling services to prevent gear from entering landfills, being incinerated, or from being ocean plastic pollution. Lobster rope collection sites will be available throughout Maine where gear is collected, sorted, and loaded into ocean freight shipping containers to be shipped to our world wide network of recycling partners.
USE OF PROCEEDS
Proceeds are used to cover transportation costs of the recyclable material from the ports to the recycling plants and cover wages for people working on the project.
